This portal lists contact information for public records requests across agencies throughout Iowa. We're asking volunteers to adopt an agency and politely request that they activate their free Flock transparency portal. It usually just takes a couple of emails to get things moving.
The goal is to have every agency in Iowa have their transparancy portals enabled.
What does “adopt” mean?
Adopting an agency is easy:
- You click "Adopt".
- An email template pops up with the agency name filled in.
- You add your own information and send the email from your email account
- We get CC’d.
- The site updates to show someone has reached out.
Multiple people can adopt the same agency. If that means they get a few extra records requests, so be it.
Important: Please do not adopt an agency unless you genuinely intend to follow up. Your adoption helps us track outreach, and false adoptions can hinder our transparency efforts.
